Shane Daniel Van Erp
Did you study in any film school or private course? Or did you learn to make movies on your own?
I have no formal training, in Film making at all.
I am learning as I go, with what I have: Computer, Mic, Digital camcorder, Pinnacle studio, and YouTube tutorials, for how to use the software.
How many years have you been making movies and how did you get started in movies?
One, and a half years ago, early 2023, would be about the time.
I started to film the original scenes, for this the movie! That I did not know that I was going to make.
As the filming, was going to be for, a paranormal investigation documentary at best.
Fast Forward! Then things, just fell into place! With the Story.
Myself, playing my part! Listing to what, they want filmed.
Then just like that! What just happened? NO WAY! I made a Film, that is Worth watching.
One of the problems that we filmmakers have is that we are not like the actors or the technical team, who work with many different productions and can learn different ways of doing things. Normally we only attend our own shoots. Have you had the opportunity to assist in the shooting of other people or are you usually only in your own shoots? If yes, is there anything that caught your attention?
I have not work with anyone, in the Arts or Drama since High School, as this was one thing that I would avoid! Even if I was offered millions! To attend one class. Hahahhahahaha! Funny how thing come back at you.
What budget did you have for your project?
No Budget, I just used the equipment, that I bought for other projects.
Is it self-financed?
Yes, Lots of over time, and squeezing the Household budget! For spare change.
That was until, I found Film Freeway! And there has been many generous Festivals, that have offered! Large discounts, to full fee waivers.
Many Thanks! Go out, to these people.
Any anecdote that you can tell us about the filming?
The way, that this is coming about! The way that it is even here.
It should not have even been made! But it is.
It should not have been possible! For ……………. to answer but ………… did.
There are many moments, that are of note, but all contain to many spoilers! To speak about.
What are you most proud of about this project?
How well, I have taken on the changes! That it has bought to me personally.
As the Film points to! Quote: His behaviour is a lot like “K”.
And what less? What would you change if you could go backwards?
I guess, one would say! All the events, that would lead to “the guy who breaks everything! Then gets it back together” Story.
But! Then it would not be, this story.
Did you comply with the shooting plan or did it take longer than expected?
I filmed, wrote, and edited, the work! That I was asked to do.
The events around the Filming, strongly suggest that the timing, is almost too accurate.
But, as I am in the dark! At the same time as Filming, it is interesting to say the least.
Fincher says that if a director can translate into a film 70% of what he had in mind, he can be more than satisfied. What % do you think you have achieved in this project?
At this point, the Percentage is about 70% with the possibility of, 98% of the vision coming to light in the future.
If you had unlimited budget. Which actor and actress would you like to work with?
I would have to! Even with an unlimited budget.
Default to the original vision! Of the future, of the Film.
To look for the ones! That want to be in this! The ones, that need this! And the ones Benefit from this.
Your favorite movie?
Movies, that make you feel, the roller coaster of Emotions, ones with deep stories are the favourites.
And filmmaker?
I like that way that Dallas Jenkins, Directed the Chosen.
He talks about the moments, he was stuck in the technical difficulties filming, (Red sea Moments, as he said it) and had to just let go, and let the project take on a life of its own.
What is the scene that has impacted you the most?
From the Chosen Series: When the Jesus, and Simon, The Zealot, are standing of the bank of the River.
Jesus! Takes Simon Dagger and throws it into the river.
If you could do a remake of a movie, what would it be?
I am not sure at all; I would like many to be added to.
As they hint at things! Which could easily make a great second part.
Where do you see yourself 10 years from now? Do you think you will continue making movies?
I would like to say, Yes.
This would have been something, that you know, you would laugh at! And said, No WAY!! Would that be impossible.
But if the Film, is received as well as it has been, and the “Help is there” (another story for later) Spoiler to.
Maybe! This will be a way out of the factory environment, and the start of something that was only a DREAM.
